Who are "Adults at Risk of Harm" in Dundee?

Persons aged 16 or over who have a disability, illness, or infirmity, who are less able in certain situations to protect themselves.

Adults "at risk of harm" can include people who-

  • Find it difficult to keep themselves or their property (their home, the things they own) safe.
  • Can be harmed by other people or by their own actions.
  • Can be more at risk because of a disability, illness or mental disorder (this could mean people with mental health problems, people with physical disability, people with learning disabilities)

Adults can be "at risk of harm" from -

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Professional paid staff
  • Volunteers
  • Other service users
  • Hospital
  • Wider community

  • Care home
  • Hospital
  • Wider community

This does not mean that every adult in Dundee is “at risk of harm”. If you are not sure or have a concern about an “adult at risk”, contact us (click here)
